The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida. The C&EI Railroad, founded in 1877, played a critical role connecting Chicago with southern Illinois, St. Louis, Mo., and Evansville, Ind., during the expansive growth of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
