FLASHOVER - 1.6.26 | Queens - At 0320 the Queens dispatch received calls for a fire at 18-24 Madison Street in Ridgewood. Engine 277 arrived and found fire blowing out the first floor windows of a 3 story multiple dwelling. They transmitted the 10-75. The fire extended to the shaft between the two buildings and subsequently extended to all floors of the main fire building as well as 4 exposures. FLASHOVER 🔥 Academy 2022 is almost wrapped up. The last few weeks of their training consist of a lot of live fire training, like this flashover training. In modern day firefighting, flashovers occur much faster than they used too. With specialized set ups like this one, the recruits can watch the fire grow, see the thermal layering and flow paths, observe warning signs, and witness a flashover. This training helps keep our firefighters safer in the field and allows them to make educated decisio
