History of the Rorschach Inkblot Test

In 1921, Hermann Rorschach created a psychological test that involved showing a person a series of inkblot images and having them describe what they saw. Today, the “Rorschach Test” is a household term. But long before inkblots were used for psychological diagnosis, there was a Victorian parlor game called Gobolinks, which used inkblots to spark whimsical poems. Along with the inkblots that inspired them, a series of these poems is compiled in an 1896 book called “Gobolinks,” or “Shadow Pictures
